An Executive Housekeeper plays a huge role in how guests feel about a hotel. It’s not just about cleanliness — it’s about how the entire space comes together.
I have always believed that a great housekeeper has an exceptional eye for detail — noticing things others might miss: the alignment of furniture, the choice of fabric and colour, the freshness of flowers, even how the curtains fall. These may look like small things but together, they define the personality of the hotel.
Maybe I am a bit old-school, but I still feel that housekeepers who take notes during rounds (even digitally) are far more effective than those who don’t. Lately, I rarely see this habit — most observations are shared instantly over WhatsApp groups. While that’s efficient, it often misses the structured follow-up and discussion that note-taking allows. These small debriefs are where real learning and improvement happen.
In my opinion, a healthy balance between digital communication and structured note-taking is the right way forward — it helps maintain focus, consistency, and attention to detail.
After all, great housekeeping is not just about cleaning — it’s about curating impressions.
